Short Bio / Intro

Dr. Brandon Magid is a music director, choral music educator, and scholar with a decade of experience on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional stages, and in professional training programs. Known for his versatile musicianship and collaborative approach, he has led productions across a wide range of styles and settings, from commercial theatre to higher education and public arts initiatives.

He completed his PhD in music education at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in December 2024, where his studies focused on choral conducting and philosophical research on social justice in music education. He brings this perspective to his work in musical theatre, aiming to build inclusive rehearsal rooms and cultivate the next generation of thoughtful, skilled performers.

As a scholar, his work has been featured at national conferences including the American Educational Research Association and the MayDay Colloquium, and published in Action, Criticism, and Theory for Music Education and the Music Educators Journal.
